I caught the ISS today at 12:51:45pm. I used a Celestron 8 inch F10 Telescope which equals a 2000mm.
I used my Canon 1D and started at 12:51:44pm with 8 frames a second. The pass across the Sun only takes 0.4 seconds!
I used the http://iss-transit.sourceforge.net web site to get the information needed to capture these photos. The data was right on! I had traveled about 5 miles to the NE of my location in S. California and used my GPS to find the exact spot that put me in the center of the shadow ground track which was 34.28.23N, -118.23.34W at exactly 12:51:45.5 pm pst.
There is one large Sunspot located just to the right of the center of the Sun.
The ISS was only 241 miles away at that time and traveling at 17,500 mph or 25,000 feet per second!
